Samenloop voor Hoop / Relay for Life

Today I like to have your attention for the following: as an (ex)breast cancer patient my mother, together with our family, friends and colleagues, is going to participate as team  "Ratjetoe" for the second time in the SamenLoop voor Hoop in the little village Best (near Eindhoven-Netherlands). This will take place at the 18th and 19th of June 2011.

The SamenLoop voor Hoop is the Dutch version of the in 1985 started 'Relay for Life' at the US and is already taking place in very many more countries. With this Relay we celebrate the Feast of Hope, where we celebrate that more and more people survive cancer and that we can do something against this disease. Through financing scientific research we provide a future with less risk at cancer, more chance at recovery and a better quality of life for (ex) cancer patients. We contribute to this mission of  "KWF Kankerbestrijding", the Dutch cancer foundation, by organizing and participating in these Dutch versions of the Relay for Life.

What exactly is this Relay for Life?

This Relay for Life is a 24-hour sponsored walk, where as a team you should walk these hours. This may be done in the form of a relay-race as long as you walk conitually these 24 hours as a team. By getting yourself sponsored as a team(member) for your rounds/hours you're walking, you raise money for the cancer foundation. This way we hope to win the fight against cancer one day.

Besides the sponsored rounds/hours, we as a team also have a stand/booth where several activities can take place for a little amount/sum such as singing old songs, making pictures, performing a magic show and so on. We as team "Ratjetoe" are also going to sell some things (like a flea market-kind of thing) and this is where I could use your help! Of course am I going to make some cute stuff for selling myself, but I would very much appreciate it if you would help me out with this! So...do you have some little time left to make a cute card, little book or other small project we could sell? I invite you to do so! We can sell these products at our stand/booth and of course all the revenue(money?) is going to KWF kankerbestrijding, the Dutch cancer foundation.
